Individualised Living Options (ILO)

Individualised Living Options, or ILO, are exactly what the name suggests: living arrangements built around you. Rather than fitting into an existing group home or standard SIL model, ILO gives participants the flexibility to design where and how they live, with supports arranged around their specific goals, relationships and lifestyle. First Priority Care supports participants to explore and implement ILO arrangements across Queensland.

How we deliver it

SIL (Supported Independent Living) is a funded support for participants who live in a shared home and receive staff support. The support model is relatively structured: workers visit or live in the home to deliver support. ILO is more flexible. It is designed for participants who want to build a living arrangement around their relationships and individual preferences, not just their support needs.

ILO is generally more suitable for participants with lower or more predictable support needs who have a strong sense of how they want to live. SIL is often more appropriate for participants with higher or more complex needs who benefit from a structured, staffed support model. Many participants explore ILO as a pathway toward greater independence.

NDIS funding

ILO is funded under Core Supports: Assistance with Daily Life or under Supported Independent Living funding, depending on how the arrangement is structured. The exploration and design phase may be funded under Capacity Building: Support Coordination. Your support coordinator plays a central role in the ILO process.
