First Priority Care's registered nurses provide clinical education and training for support workers, families, carers and disability organisations across Queensland. We help everyone involved in a participant's care deliver it safely and confidently.

This isn't generic online training. Our education is delivered by AHPRA-registered nurses, tailored to the participant's specific care needs and aligned to the NDIS Practice Standards for High Intensity Daily Activities.

  • Medication administration: oral, transdermal, subcutaneous, inhaled
  • Wound care fundamentals: assessment, dressings and escalation
  • Continence management: catheter care, bowel care, stoma management
  • PEG and enteral feeding: tube feeding technique and troubleshooting
  • Suctioning: oropharyngeal and tracheostomy suctioning technique
  • Seizure management: recognition, first aid and rescue medication
  • Pressure injury prevention: risk assessment, repositioning and skin care

NDIS Funding

Nurse-delivered training for support workers and families is fundable under Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living (Registration Group 0128). Training can be included in a participant's plan as a specific support item. Your support coordinator can help identify the correct line items.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is clinical training for support workers funded by NDIS?
Yes. Nurse-delivered training for support workers in high-intensity support skills can be funded under Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living. The training must be specific to the participant's care needs, not generic industry training, to be fundable through the participant's plan.
How is this different from a TAFE or online training course?
Generic TAFE or online training covers theory. Our training is delivered by a registered nurse who knows the participant, uses their actual equipment and is tailored to their specific care plan. A support worker who is trained this way is assessed as competent for that specific participant, which is exactly what the NDIS Practice Standards require for High Intensity Daily Activities.
