SIL provider Brisbane

Supported Independent Living in Brisbane, with nurses on staff.

First Priority Care is a registered NDIS SIL provider in Brisbane. Unlike most SIL providers, we employ AHPRA-registered nurses, so housemates with high and complex needs get clinical care planned properly, not patched in by an agency.

SIL in Brisbane

A home that works, not just a vacancy.

Supported Independent Living is NDIS funding for a support worker to help or supervise you at home, up to 24 hours a day. It pays for the support, not the rent. First Priority Care delivers SIL across greater Brisbane, in shared homes where two to four people each have their own room and share a consistent team.

Brisbane has the deepest SIL market in Queensland, which means you have a real choice about where you live and who with. It also means good rooms go quickly. If SIL is in your plan, or your support coordinator is working on it, register interest now rather than after the plan is finalised.

The nurse-led difference

Everything SIL covers, plus a nurse behind it.

Most SIL providers stop at the left-hand column. The right-hand one is why families with clinical needs choose us.

Daily support in the home

  • Personal care: showering, dressing, grooming and continence
  • Cooking, mealtimes and help to eat safely
  • Medication administration and prompting
  • Cleaning, laundry and running the household
  • Building daily living skills, at your pace
  • Getting to appointments and out into the community
  • Overnight support, active or sleepover, matched to your needs

What our registered nurses add

  • A registered nurse completes the clinical intake before you move in
  • A nursing care plan for any clinical needs, written with you and your team
  • Support workers trained and signed off by a nurse for your specific clinical tasks
  • Medication charts, PEG, catheter and wound care overseen by a nurse, not left to chance
  • A nurse to escalate to when something changes, including overnight
  • Care plans reviewed at least every six months, or sooner if needs change

More on what that means in practice: why nurse-led support matters.

Who our SIL suits

Built for higher needs.

We support people across the range, and being nurse-led means we can say yes to participants whose needs go beyond everyday personal care.

  • Participants with SIL funding in their plan, or a support coordinator working on it
  • People with high physical needs: hoist transfers, repositioning, full personal care
  • People with clinical needs alongside daily living: PEG feeding, catheters, wounds, complex medication
  • Acquired brain injury, spinal cord injury, cerebral palsy and neurological conditions
  • Young adults moving out of the family home for the first time
  • People leaving hospital who cannot safely go back to their previous home
How it works

From first call to move-in day.

  1. 01

    Talk to us

Call 1800 402 205 or send a referral. We ask about needs, funding and what the participant wants from a home, then tell you honestly whether we have something suitable.

  2. 02

    Free needs assessment

A registered nurse meets the participant and family, reviews clinical needs and checks compatibility with the people already living in the house.

  3. 03

    See the home

An in-person visit, or a virtual tour if distance makes that hard. Meeting the housemates matters as much as seeing the rooms.

  4. 04

    Quote and agreement

We prepare the SIL quote and roster of care, work with the support coordinator on the NDIA side, and sign a service agreement in plain English.

  5. 05

    Move in

A transition plan with the same named workers from day one, and a full handover from any current provider.

Brisbane areas we support

Across the river, all four sides.

Where a SIL home sits decides how often family can visit. Brisbane is split by the river, and a home on the wrong side can turn a visit into an hour each way. We talk location through before anything else.

FAQs

SIL in Brisbane, your questions.

Who is a registered SIL provider in Brisbane?
First Priority Care is a registered NDIS provider (Registration ID 4050141489) delivering Supported Independent Living across greater Brisbane from our office in Coorparoo. We are nurse-led: AHPRA-registered nurses on staff write the clinical plans for our SIL homes and supervise workers delivering high intensity supports.
Does my SIL provider have to be registered in 2026?
Yes. All providers delivering SIL must be registered, or have applied to register, by 1 October 2026. Your plan and funding do not change. If your current provider does not register, you will need to move to a registered one, and the NDIA has said it will help participants find one. You can ask your provider directly whether they are registered.
What does SIL pay for, and what does it not?
SIL funds the support workers who help or supervise you at home, up to 24 hours a day. It covers personal care, cooking, household tasks and overnight support. It does not pay for rent, groceries, utilities or other day-to-day living costs, which you pay from your own income, usually the Disability Support Pension.
Who is eligible for SIL?
The NDIA says SIL may suit you if you need a support worker with you 24 hours a day including overnight, need help with daily activities for at least 8 of those hours, and need some help or supervision the rest of the time. The NDIA decides this based on your support needs. Your support coordinator can help you ask for it.
What is the difference between SIL and SDA?
SDA is the house: purpose-built homes for people with very high support needs. SIL is the support inside the house. Many people have both. You can have SIL without SDA, living in an ordinary rental home shared with other participants.
Why does a nurse-led SIL provider matter?
Most SIL providers are staffed entirely by support workers and call in an agency nurse when a clinical need comes up. We employ registered nurses, so clinical tasks like PEG feeding, catheter care and complex medication are planned, trained and supervised properly. For housemates with high or clinical needs, that means fewer avoidable hospital trips and fewer surprises overnight.
Can I choose who I live with?
You should have a real say. We check compatibility before anyone moves in, arrange for future housemates to meet, and take it seriously if it is not working. A house where people get along is the difference between SIL working and SIL being somewhere you put up with.
How long does it take to move into SIL?
If SIL funding is already in the plan and a room suits, usually two to six weeks, most of it spent on the assessment, visits and transition plan. If SIL still needs to be approved by the NDIA, it takes longer, and we can start the conversation with your support coordinator now.
Can I switch SIL providers without moving house?
Often, yes. SIL is the support, not the property, so in some houses the support provider can change while residents stay put. It depends on who holds the lease and what the other residents want. Call us and we will tell you honestly whether it is realistic in your situation.
