Living with a wound, whether acute, post-surgical or chronic, can significantly affect quality of life, daily function and independence. First Priority Care's registered nurses provide expert wound care and management in your home across Queensland, funded through your NDIS plan. You receive clinical wound care without hospital visits or inconvenient outpatient appointments.
What Our Wound Care Service Includes
- Wound assessment and classification: type, depth, dimensions, exudate, surrounding tissue
- Dressing selection and application: using evidence-based dressing choices matched to wound type
- Wound photography and documentation for clinical monitoring and progress tracking
- Debridement: wound cleaning and removal of devitalised tissue where clinically indicated
- Infection monitoring and management: early identification and response to wound infection
- Surgical wound care: post-operative wound management and suture or clip removal
- Leg and foot ulcer management: venous, arterial and diabetic ulcer care including compression therapy
- Pressure injury management: staged assessment and evidence-based dressing care
- Moisture-associated skin damage assessment and management
- Liaison with your GP, vascular surgeon or wound specialist as needed
- Wound care education and training for support workers and family carers

Who Is This Service For?
Our wound care nursing service is suitable for any NDIS participant who:
- Has an acute or chronic wound requiring regular clinical nursing attention
- Is managing a wound related to their disability or a secondary health condition such as diabetes
- Has been discharged from hospital with a wound requiring ongoing community nursing care
- Cannot safely or practically attend a GP or wound clinic for regular dressing changes
- Requires clinical oversight of a support worker who is assisting with wound care tasks
NDIS Funding
Wound care nursing is funded under the NDIS as a Disability-Related Health Support, typically under Core Supports (Assistance with Daily Life: High Intensity, Registration Group 0114) or Capacity Building (Improved Daily Living, Registration Group 0128). Your support coordinator can help identify the correct line item for your plan.
