Can you teach me to manage my stoma myself?

Yes, and that is the aim for most participants. Nurses teach the change, the skin care and the troubleshooting, then reduce visits as confidence builds. Independence with a stoma is very achievable, and it is a much better outcome than a permanent nursing visit.
