Delivering Stoma Care in Sunshine Coast

Coastal humidity and hinterland distance pull stoma care in opposite directions here. Coastal participants need seasonal product adjustments for adhesion; hinterland participants need independence and a supply buffer. Same service, two quite different plans depending on which side of the range you live.

Frequently Asked Questions | Stoma Care Sunshine Coast

Do you provide stoma care in the hinterland?
Yes, built around independence. We teach to full competency, keep a supply buffer in the home and schedule reviews as longer blocks. Phone and photo support covers the gaps, which for a stable stoma is usually all that is needed between visits.
Who do you escalate a stoma problem to on the Sunshine Coast?
The stomal therapy service at Sunshine Coast University Hospital, or the surgical team if the stoma is recent. Most problems do not need them, so escalation carries a proper description and photos rather than sending you to a clinic to be re-examined from scratch.
