NDIS Short Term Accommodation & Respite in Redlands

First Priority Care provides NDIS Short Term Accommodation, the NDIS name for respite, across Redlands. A stay covers accommodation, meals, personal care and 24-hour support. Redlands includes the southern Moreton Bay islands, where a stay has to be planned around the ferry in both directions rather than just the dates.

Delivering Short Term Accommodation in Redlands

Redlands is the only region we cover where a stay has to be planned around a ferry timetable in both directions. For families on Russell, Macleay, Lamb or Karragarra, the start and end of a stay are not just dates, they are specific sailings, and a missed one turns a handover into an overnight problem.

Frequently Asked Questions | Short Term Accommodation Redlands

How does a stay work if the participant lives on one of the bay islands?
We plan the arrival and departure around the ferry from Redland Bay rather than around the calendar, and we confirm the sailings in writing before the stay. Island families know the timetable better than we ever will, so we build the plan with you rather than handing you one.
Is Short Term Accommodation the same as respite care?
Yes. STA is the NDIS funding category that replaced what was called respite. It pays for a supported stay away from home, covering accommodation, meals and personal care. Most participants who use it have 14 to 28 days a year in their plan.
