Managing a urinary catheter at home requires trained, consistent clinical care to prevent complications, maintain comfort and protect dignity. First Priority Care's registered nurses provide catheter management services for NDIS participants across Queensland, in your home, on your schedule, with the same nurses who know your history.
What Our Catheter Care Service Includes
- Indwelling catheter (IDC) management: monitoring, drainage, bag changes and regular clinical review
- Suprapubic catheter (SPC) management: site care, tube changes and complication monitoring
- Intermittent catheterisation: technique support, schedule management and training for carers
- Catheter insertion and removal: for eligible participants where clinically indicated
- Trial without catheter (TWOC): supported removal and monitoring for urinary function
- Catheter irrigation: for participants with blockage or clot risk
- Urostomy support and management
- Infection monitoring: identifying early signs of catheter-associated UTI
- Carer and support worker education in safe catheter care technique
- Liaison with GP and urology team for reviews, changes and complications

NDIS Funding
Catheter care is funded under Core Supports: Assistance with Daily Life (High Intensity) or Capacity Building: Improved Daily Living. Catheter-related supplies may also be fundable through Consumables. Your support coordinator can confirm the applicable line items.
